The Mission

Simply stated, the Mission of the organization is to protect, preserve, and promote the natural, social and cultural environments of Florida Keys and Key West.

PROTECT

The Florida Keys are the exposed portions of an ancient coral reef some 130,000 years old, and are composed of hundreds of tiny islands of sand built up around small areas of exposed reef. One of our main goals as an organization is to defend this fragile environment from man-made dangers and over commercialization. These unique ecosystems serve as a priceless asset to the overall well being of our larger landside and oceanic ecosystems, and without them, major devastation could come to the balance of our natural world. The world depends on us.

PRESERVE

The Keys aren’t just a place. They are a state of mind and a way of life uniquely their own. Over 120 miles of lush, beautiful landscape as diverse as the people who call it home. As visitors, we are merely guests in their paradise of slow-paced living and casual fancies. It is our vision that this Florida Keys mentality and way of life lives on for generations to come, so that our children’s children can enjoy the unspoiled, subtropical playgrounds exactly the same way as we do today. Leave a legacy that you will be proud of.

PROMOTE

We believe in the healing powers of the Florida Keys, and we want others to experience that awe inspiring feeling for themselves. The moment you cross over the drawbridge at Jewfish Creek, you begin to feel your stress and worries dissipate. As you roll down the windows and extend your arm towards the azure sky, you let the warm breeze to pass through your fingers. It feels like freedom; like there is no other place on earth. Your cares, your worries, your limitations, have all left you. You are one with the crystal clear, emerald waters and the slow hum of your tires on the road. Welcome to the Florida Keys.
